Walkthrough

• Gantineux will give you the key item: Spirit Incense and ask you to travel to Eldieme Necropolis.
• Head to Eldieme Necropolis and look for a brazier with a flame that wavers from time to time.
• Inside Eldieme Necropolis there is a ??? that spawns in one of four locations. (Positions are G-7, H-7, and I-6 for 3/4 on Batallia Downs map, F-5 being the 4th accessable via Beacedine.) The map to the right displays the location of each. Once someone lights the Spirit Incense, the ??? will spawn in a new location. One of the spawn locations is accessible only through Beaucedine Glacier.
• After touching the ???, you will get the message "The spirit incense emits a putrid odor and burns up. Your attempt this time has failed."
• Go back to Gantineux. He will give key item: Gantineux's Letter and tell you to deliver it to Eperdur.
• Head to Northern San d'Oria and see Eperdur, upstairs in the Cathedral, for your reward.

Summary:

Gantineux wants you to help him in his study of white magic. Go to the Eldieme Necropolis and offer up "spirit incense" at the dimly flickering candle to try and appease the spirits of the dead.

Notes

• In very rare cases, the Spirit Incense will burn brightly, and the attempt will succeed. This has no effect on the outcome; you will still receive the scroll of Teleport-Mea.
