Walkthrough

Defeat Sagelord Molaal Ja.

  • The Sagelord won't stand still for you to kill him. Every 10-20% HP he dashes off faster than Flee.
    • He flees after using the Warm-Up ability.
    • Stun CAN make him stop running. Stunners in the party should take care and be alert for Warm-Up.
    • When he flees, he usually links several Mamool Ja Trainees that will come after you.
      • At the start of the assault, a thief with Trotter/Strider Boots can pull a Mamool Ja Trainee and easily kite it and eventually every other link around the big area, on and off ledges, while the rest of the party fights Sagelord without having to worry about links when it runs away.
      • It's probably best to sleep the links to save time, though eventually they may overwhelm you.
      • If a player's pet has hate when the Sagelord runs, the links will attack the pet instead; when the pet dies, the links reset hate.
    • Having Wide Scan or a pet attacking the Sagelord helps to find him again after he runs off.
  • In the event of a party wipe, the Sagelord will not regain HP.
  • DoT spells will continue to damage him after he runs.
  • When he gets low on HP (below 15%) he warps out and you win.

Notes

  • The Mamool Ja Trainees are more of a threat than Sagelord Molaal Ja. The trainees will hit a well-equipped DD for over 100 damage per hit. The sagelord only manages double-digits.
  • Avoiding aggro from the trainees is very important. While it is essentially impossible to avoid links if the sagelord runs away, minimizing the number of people in the party who get hate from those links can mean the difference between winning and losing.
    • Since any links will attack the party member who last had hate from the sagelord, good tanking and careful hate management can help accomplish this.
    • If a party member who had hate from links dies the trainees will deaggro provided no one else had hate.
    • From personal experience, 5 of my 6 party members died with the sagelord at 20%. I expected the trainees to hunt me down next. Fortunately, I did not have hate from any trainees so I was able to find the sagelord and easily finish him off due to his low damage.
