  • Spawns at (K-9), on the hill near the tunnel entrance. Spawn specifics are unknown, some reports state that he alternates spawning with Snow Maiden when the Morozkos around (K-9) are left unharmed. Other reports state he appears only if Snow Maiden is left undefeated for an undefined amount of time.
  • Around 12000HP
  • Killable by: 75 BLM, 75 RDM, or 67+ SMN (marathon Carbuncle kiting little over 2 hours)
  • Attempted by a 65 SMN/WHM, after 16 minutes of Carbuncle kiting, only about 10% of its HP was gone. It does not appear to use Hypothermal Combustion.
  • Special Attacks: Additional Effect: Ice Spikes (not dispellable)
  • Purgatory Collar has a higher drop rate than Snow Maiden.

Historical Background

In Eastern Slavic (Russian, Ukranian, Belorussian) folklore, considered the Eastern Slavic equivalent of Santa Claus (though Father Frost is depicted as tall and lean, but still old). He is considered the personification of Winter. The proper translation of his name is Grandfather Frost. In Russian, his name is Ded Moroz. His granddaughter is Snow Maiden. It is hard to sort out the mythology from the modern myth as Father Frost and Snow Maiden have become popular icons in modern Russian culture after the fall of the Soviet Union.
